Did you get a kernel update at the time the lockups stopped? Reiserfs in 2.6.25
had at least two bugs that caused system lockups, both were present in the
distribution kernel, and both have been fixed.
I used reiserfs for many years - I started with 6.4, but I have gone to ext3
now. For me, reiserfs doesn’t get as much testing as ext3. Furthermore, the
total development effort for reiserfs is two guys.
