I was wandering in some other websites and found the solution!!! Then I came here to find out if someone had the same problem using opensuse 11.3.
I gave nvidia-xconfig --dynamic-twinview a try but it did not work for me.
You simply need to pass the **nopat **parameter to the kernel. One easy way to do this is to edit /boot/grub/menu.lst and add **nopat **at the end of the **kernel **line. Make sure you choose the right grub menu. Here is what my kernel line looks like
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.34-12-desktop root=/dev/vg_main/lv_root resume=/dev/vg_main/lv_swap splash=silent quiet showopts vga=0x31a nopat
Reboot and enjoy
