OpenSuSe 11.1 KDE 3.5 RAM Usage

Hi,

I’m pretty new when it comes to using Linux, so I’m unsure if this is usual behaviour or not. When I do top in konsole this is what I see:

top - 12:16:04 up 1:10, 3 users, load average: 0.07, 0.18, 0.17

Is that healthy or should my RAM usage be much lower?

As has been said/explained before, Most *nixes will use as much ram as needed before even thinking about using swap. So, it’s nothing to really worry about. And, most of that will be as cache

Andy

As Andy mentioned, ram will be used as it is needed…most of the time it is used as cache.
So there is nothing to worry about ram usage.

Thanks guys, makes me feel better, I’ve spent 8 hours getting this install to where I wanted it and I was scared I’d have to start again (which would be the fourth OS install in 2 days :frowning: )

I originally installed KDE 4.1 but I’ve installed KDE3.5 and removed KDE4, the bluetooth app no longer seems to recognise my adapter, anyone got a fix for that too?
