10.3 is supported until 11.2 comes out, which is currently scheduled
for 12 Nov 09 (cite: http://en.opensuse.org/Roadmap)

http://software.opensuse.org/search and my 10.3 YaST both report
“nothing found” for both gdlib and imgamagick…

on the other hand Google searched the entire earth and found those two
terms in your post only…which makes me wonder if you spelled
them correctly…

well, now that i’ve learned how to spell imagemagick, i’d advise you
to use YaST to install it (i GUESS if you need gdlib, or something
spelled kinda like that, it will be automatically installed by YaST)

by the way, imagemagick is installed on my 10.3, so . . .

spelling counts when dealing with computers…witd mee, knot sew muche…

Not sure what that is supposed to mean.
‘Your Provider?’

i guess: s/he has an ISP (possibly dial-up) who meters bits and
charges LOT$ if over some low number of megs per unit of time
(probably monthly)…

hey mischlig,

use a bit torrent client to fetch…and just turn it on and let it run
at/near the end of the month (or whatever) until you get close to your
monthly max bits…and, do that over and over until you have the
entire DVD image…

and, i guess you know you can set (for example) KTorrent to not seed…

It seems that the Suse web side interface is helping to cause thread
fractioning. It is real visible on the Usenet side.

i not at all sure what you point is?
what kind of fractionation are you referring to?

that is, are you expecting to see every character of every previous
note top posted, as is a usual nntp style?

if that is your point, then it is best to just get over it…because
almost all the posters here are on html, and they (most having NO
background with NNTP) do not top-quote…

Actually, i was talking about the multiple short threads for
mischlig’s issue. I have no idea if you are even seeing them. But
that is what is happening on the Usenet side. Try it (Usenet) you
might like it.

i can only guess you mean that he posted numerous times…maybe one
post each for several problems?? i hadn’t noticed…

> I have no idea if you are even seeing them.

hadn’t noticed because i hadn’t seen…but, on the other hand i seldom
notice the name/id of posters…so, i might have ‘answered’ every
question and not noticed they were all from the same individual…

now, at http://forums.opensuse.org/search.php?do=finduser&u=28792 i
see that “mischlig” has originated three threads, titled:

-rpmlib(PayloadIsLzma) <= 4.4.2-1
-OpenSuse 10.2 + Postfix
-OpenSuse 10.3

and has made a total of 12 post to this forum, ever…

and, still do not know what you were referring to…maybe you are the
only one seeing “multiple short threads” or “thread fractioning”…

DUH!

Now that is a bad interface and uninspired reading. I could not help
noting the commonality, but that is me.

The way to find out is to try a free reader (knode is ok, seamonkey is
ok, thunderbird is ok and go look at a free newsserver aoie.org is ok
and Motzarella.org is ok) and look at the recent thread as Usenet sees
it. I doubt i could stand your web interface. I have seen so very
many that just unusable. Even google sucks, and it at least mostly
preserves threads.

did you actually read my last posting, including the header from a
previous post?

i ask because, as you suggested:

the first time i pointed out i was using NNTP i went to the trouble of
posting my header from a previous message…it clearly showed both
of those facts, yet you persist in telling me if i switch away from a
web/hhtp interface that you don’t like and i am NOT using, i’ll
suddenly see and understand what you are calling “multiple short
threads” or “thread fractioning”…

mark me confused, but able to read.

I am using a different server and getting different results.
I will look at the posts from yet another server.
I will look at it with seamonkey on both servers.
I will let you know.

and, if you discover a bug in the web-forum-to-nntp-interface
programming, i guess you ought to suggest they fix it in a post to the
NNTP forum named opensuse.org.feedback.forums.comments-suggestions

or, perhaps some kind hearted moderator would yank all of this
off-topic sub-thread (beginning with JosephKK’s first posting and
down) out of this help forum and place it all in the correct place…

And the test were run: knode and different results; different server
group not carried; seamonkey from the suse repository no news client
(WTH??); tried to reach your server but only got timeouts. Nothing
duplicatable.
