I’m running openSUSE 11.1 (32 bit). When I click on a link, the link opens in Konqueror, not Firefox (my default browser). If there an easy way to change this?

This means that FF is NOT your default browser (at least not for KDE).
In openSUSE 10.3 and KDE 3.5 in Desktop configuration > KDE components > Components chooser (or similar words) where you can change the browser used called when using a link inside a KDE component.
Hope there is something similar in your KDE.
