Does the asa5510 support OpenVPN? OpenVPN is its own VPN client/server
solution, so if the remote device doesn’t support it, then what you’re
trying to do can’t be done.

(Don’t confuse OpenVPN with the Network Manager VPN setup - the two are
different).

Thank you.

for Cisco is better to use their own Cisco VPN Client, available on their support site - VPN Client - Cisco - Cisco Systems.

There are vpnc for old Cisco VPN and openconnect for Cisco anywhere. Both work reasonably well and have NetworkManager plugin (at least on GNOME). There are some missing features but I have been using both to connect to Cisco VPN servers.

Native cisco client (assuming it is freely available - last time I checked one had to have valid maintenance agreement with Cisco to download it) is implemented partially as kernel module and compiling it may need some experience.
