Omnissa worked but crashed now

But isn´t anymore. Sometimes I get a little sad. I came to some problems when installing Omnissa in Opensuse. Resolved them and it was working for a short time. I need this very much for doing my daily job. So it’s a little disappointing that just when I need it, it stops working. I get a message about some crash. Can anybody help me?

It seems another problem, It pops up with other packages also. Installed nextcloud client and some photo-program and it’s all a similar message.

I had a similar problem. I installed Omnissa Horizon client using the method form the last post of this thread: Omnissa (formerly VMware) Horizon Client libX requisites - #9 by eirsik

Initially it worked, than it started crashing. I’m not enough technical to understand the debug info.

Fortunately after the last system update yesterday, Omnissa is working again.

Tried to install again. After #10 it worked.q

It’s crashing again. Verry frustrating. There’s no stability about the Omnissa software on TW.

Omnissa seems to me a commercial package without sources.

If you want to run this I would go for a Leap install instead of Tumbleweed.

Tumbleweed is a rolling release with lots of changes over time. That works fine if you build the packages from the sources with every update but for packages without source that means things will often break,.

Run it from a Leap or Debian distrobox.

I tried to run it from a Fedora image in toolbox but didn’t manage to install it properly. Haven’t tried distrobox but as far as I know they are alternatives.

Under normal install of Fedora, Omnissa is working properly, but from Fedora toolbox image - no.

toolbx is for CLI apps only, Omnissa looks like a GUI app? :thinking:

I meant that I’ll try distrobox nex time it starts crashing. Its working again today.
It’s a shame that Omnissa/VMWare are not providing any flatpack download options.

I tried to install Leap a while ago, but it gave to many errors with screendrivers for which I read half of the internet to solve. The solvation was Tumbleweed :wink: Maybe if I had the time and if I could take all the settings with me I would consider to do all the configuration of my mail-accounts etc. again.
In a couple of months I will buy another laptop, so I will try then. For the time being It works.
