Okular vs libpoppler vs checkboxes in forms - downstream issue?

Hi,

I’ve been facing an issue when filling PDF forms in Okular for a while now: I check a checkbox and the mark is only visible while I’m in form filling mode. As soon as I quit this mode, the checkbox appears empty again.

I have opened a bugreport to KDE:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=503273

My first comment there links to a pdf you can easily download to reproduce the problem.

Also, a recent reply in that bug made me try the flatpak version of Okular, which works fine (!) and pointed at a potential issue with the distro-provided package (Okular or libpoppler).

Is anybody else facing this on TW KDE? If so I guess I’ll open a bugreport.

Thanks!

Check if it’s the same with a different widget theme and maybe also a different icon theme.

It’s happening with the stock Breeze and Breeze Dark themes, without any changes to icon themes

Well, that’s the point: Does it happen with other themes as well?

Create a new user, login as that new user and see if the issue exists there. Report here.
How do you upgrade?

Thanks, tried that but still see the issue.
The new user account has of course none of my main user-level fonts installed, and uses KDE defaults as shipped by opensuse.
So if it’s somehow font related, it might be caused by a font I installed system-wide, otherwise I suspect it’s rather an issue with the tumbleweed packages (either okular or libpoppler or some other dependency).

I usually update with sudo zypper dup, and occasionally via Discover (to take care of flatpaks).

Thanks
