*Office anyone?

Dear all,
I would like to ask Libreoffice and Openoffice users.
In calc I have written in some cells (quite a lot) the values
YES and NO

I would like to “paint” the YESes with green and the NOs with RED.
That is why I have used conditional formating
a.First I selected the cells with the YESes and the NOs
b. Then I selected Format->Conditional Formating
c. I clicked in Condition 1 , Cell values is equal to ‘YES’ and I selected the style with the green font color
d. then I clicked in Condition 2, Cell values is equal to ‘NO’ and I selected the style with the red font color
e. Then I pressed ok but it seems that only the first condition is applied and only in some of the cells and in a wrong manner. Some Yes and No turn green which is of course wrong.

I have also changed the condition from ‘YES’ to YES and from ‘NO’ to NO. I also made the cells format to be Text but this also did not help

Could you please suggest me what I might be doing wrong in that procedure?

I would like to thank you for your help

A problem I found is that, when setting a conditional format, the format
may be applied to the cell directly.

Try selecting the row/column and formatting the cells to the normal
settings via “Format -> cells -> font effects”.

Hi,

also if the value to compare is a text, don’t forget to put it between a double quote (") at each end, not single quotes.

The most important fact to consider is, that you values are indeed consistent, meaning that all YES are text string YES and all NO are text string no. A good workaaround is to put the values (YES) and NO in two additional cells and define your conditional format with reference to the.

Moreover, I would suggest to search for answers to such questions here:
Openoffice community forum

Again, with less spelling errors;):

That was the solution!! Great

Glad it worked!
