My guess is (based on the complete thread), you have edited the wrong (still Leap kernel) grub menu entry. You seem still trying to install a TW package on a Leap kernel.
You can see in the grub menu, after you have hit “e”, which kernel you are trying to use. You need to use the Tumbleweed kernel!!!
This is a Leap kernel (as can be seen at the 150600): kernel-default-6.4.0-150600.23.65.1
This is a TW kernel: kernel-default-6.16.3-1.1
Provide us with a picture of the grub menu entry you try to edit (make the picture before you hit “F10”). So we can verify the correct menu entry with the correct kernel.
Then make a picture after you have issued the “zypper dup” command but before the final “yes”.
Finaly make a picture of the last screen where you say the installation failed.
We are trying to help you. But you need to help us to help you.
Additionally, if you say the installation fails and doesn’t boot with a GUI: simply drop to a terminal session (described above) and show us the output of following commands again (as picture) uname -a zypper se -si nvidia
And more important (to add to my post beforee), if you have edited the TW kernel entry to install the driver, you need to choose the TW kernel in the boot menu afterwards or you will boot again the Leap kernel which for sure will end in no GUI as explained several times by different ppl in this thread.
kernel needs to match the Nvidia drivers for the correct distribution.
Nobody said that you lie. But you need to understand, that we can’t look over your shoulder. How should we know what you see on your screen? How can we help if you don’t provide any input to work with? “It doesn’t work” is not a good starting point to describe an issue. Without what you see on your screen, we can’t help you…
Different ppl in this thread tried to explain you that the remaining Leap kernel is the issue. And different help approaches from different ppl were also provided. So it is up to you…
Nobody won or intended to win. This is a technical help forum. Users need to work with the potential helpers to come to a good result.
