Nvidia drivers: repositories could not be added

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue installing the nvidia proprietary drivers in openSUSE. I’ve googled a bit to try and find an answer but nothing I’ve found seems to be straight-forward.

I went to the following link to install the drivers and clicked on the first one as I have a 550 Ti
SDB:NVIDIA drivers - openSUSE

Went through the install and it said:
*The following repositories could not be added
*ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/12.2/

I found the below command from a forum post I came across… not sure if this helps at all. I’m very new to openSUSE, so if someone could help me out I’d really appreciate it. Thanks.

zypper lr -d

My advise is to follow the repository way, via zypper … :expressionless:

Which is as follows

su -
zypper ar -f ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/12.2/ nvidia
zypper ref

I’ve just used the YaST system to add the repository and had no trouble.
Not that I use the nVidia driver myself as nouveau works OK for me.

YaST - Software - Software Repositories - Add. Select “Communitory
Repositories” radio button and click on “Next”. Select “nVidia Graphic
Drivers” from the list and click “OK”.
