NTFS File System checker (openSUSE 11 / 11.1)

There are CL (console) tools for checking ext3 (e2fsck) and FAT32/VFAT (dosfsck) file systems in oS 11/11.1.

As I also have 4 NTFS partitions on the PC (Windows XP), is there a file system check utility in Linux for NTFS partitions (to check NTFS partitions from within Linux) ?
Or would only option would be to use chkdsk /f from Windows XP or the Recovery Console/Win XP Install CD ?

There is no ntfs file system check for linux yet (though I think it would be nice if fsck.ntfs existed). However ntfsfix can repair some basic ntfs problems. Windows chckdsk tool is to use for ntfs file system diagnostics and repair.

what is ntfsfix? is it a tool or command?
how can i use it?

Hi
It’s part of the ntfsprogs package and it’s /usr/bin/ntfsfix so that suggest a command…
