Novell Open office .org

Hi,

  1. Unable to find frequently used Special Characters and Symbols in Novell openoffice writer.
  2. How to import more symbols for writer while using Special Characters in Writer.

Hi
Aside from Insert->Special character maybe there is a plugin that will
allow frequently used ones to be added http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/

To add more symbols you would need to add the fonts that contain the
symbols to your system.

In linux you don’t configure this in OpenOffice.org, you configure the desktop to use composed characters. Which desktop are you on? KDE? Gnome?

Hi,

  1. Is there is any Filter option is available like "Filter by Color " in calc Novell openoffice 3.2
2.How to filter multiple options in Calc. ( Is it any check box is shown when selecting the filter )

With Regards,
Anita

AFAIK there is no Novell OO for Windows, only Sun (now Oracle). Have you looked in Data>Filter>Advanced filter? There is a simple example in Help but it doesn’t mention color. However, that does not mean it is not possible though it may mean using a script which is not compatible with Excel.

Hey Anita,

Welcome here. Don’t know how you got to posting here, but these are neither Novell forums, nor OO.o for Windows forums. Wouldn’t you be better off in the OO.o forums? These are the openSUSE linux forums, you may not find the help you need.

hello new poster…welcome to the openSUSE forums…

but, since you are using Novell’s openoffice you should contact Novell
at their site: http://forums.novell.com

on the other hand, you might get some good answers here (you are
welcome to hang out and see) but, i think most who are here use the
vanilla OpenOffice, and may have NO idea what differences may be built
into the Novell version… (i mean, there must be some or they probably
wouldn’t go to the trouble of branding it)

Yes, there is.

It can be the Go-oo version Novell makes. It is basically the same version we get at our openSUSE
installs.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go-oo
http://go-oo.org/

Go to the download page, you will see Windows, Linux, Mac, and source (3.2.1.4).

There is also the “OpenOffice.org Novell Edition for Windows”, which might be the one she got. That
one seems to be commercial, it mentions “download evaluation version”. I’m not familiar with this
one - it might have it’s own support channels.

As to the questions - we can simply answer as for a question for OO for linux, the functionality
should be the same.

But I don’t understand the questions. Filter by color doesn’t sound familiar to me. And filter
multiple options I dunno really what it means, sorry.

Hi
Sounds like you need to investigate macros based on the cell properties
to create a filter.

The correct place to ask is over in the Novell forums;
http://forums.novell.com/novell-product-support-forums/suse-linux-enterprise-desktop-sled/sled-applications/

So if you could repost there

Not there. It is not SLED, it is “OpenOffice.org Novell Edition for Windows”. See
<http://www.novell.com/products/openofficewindows/latest_version.html>

There is no forum for this product (I just searched, no “openoffice”). There is paid support, though.

Hi Carlos
Yes it is, because the low volume of requests the OO subforum was
closed at forums.novell.com and moved to the SLED area (also for
evolution as well). Guess which NKP hangs out in the SLE forums…

I see. Well, they should put in the main forum page what each forum is for: I did a quick search for
openoffice or windows and came out blank.

(dunno/don’t remember what NKP is :-?)
