There is a Novell Client for Linux. It may not officially be supported
on 11.4 but I remember somebody doing it so Google may help you there.
Good luck.

Hi
Have you tried ncpfs? These are ‘Tools for Accessing Novell File
Systems’

the problem is to find a libbfd-2.19.so which isn’t available any more in 11.4. There is a newer version but in my experience creating a symlink isn’t enough. Once you found and installed libbfd-2.19.so, just install the Novell client as usual (ignore the dependency error).

Caveat: I do not have any Microsoft Windows machines to connect to; so this is a bit hypothetical.
You will need to ensure that *cifs-utils * is installed – it probably will be, by default.
You may need samba-client – I am not sure and cannot test easily.
When you are connected to the university network:
I am assuming you are using KDE4. I am sure that there will be quivalents for Gnome etc.
In Dolphin (File Manager) > Places > Network
(It might be easier to Settings > Configure Tolbars, and add the “Places” icon)
Alternatively choose “Network” from Kickoff, which will open Dolphin in Places > Network
Select “Add Network Folder” > “Microsoft Windows network drive” > Next …
he said his University uses Novell, so configuring Samba will probably not help.

I am guessing that they use some successor of Netware Directory Services for server management, but do not use IPX. NCP, etc. or expect students to directly mount Netware volumes. They probably present CIFS shares to authenticated client connections, and most students (using MS Windows) will address/mount these as a drive letter(H:). If my guess is correct Kyluke just has to do what everyone else is doing there, and connect using CIFS. This should not require running or configuring a Samba server.
That’s a wild guess, though. Most Novell sites I know use NCP to access server volumes, hence installing the Novell client is a good idea. Novell doesn’t use IPX any more for a LONG time.
Well, let’s just wait what he says
Uwe
I would agree with that. But it was coloured by an almost identically worded request for help from a friend at a UK university about three years ago. Her problems were almost completely due to totally misleading “instructions” which guaranteed non-authentication via Cisco VPN server.
I just tried installing ncpfs-2.2.6-181.1.x86_64 from http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/network/openSUSE_11.4/
It appeared to install ok, without any dependency problems. However I do not have access to a Netware volume to test ncpmount.
I await Kyluke for enlightment.
