Normal boot I loose Video, safe mode it's fine.

I’m upgrading from Open SUSE 10.3 to 11.1
I am using GRUB.
My startup options are: OpenSUSE 11.1
OpenSUSE 11.1 (Failesafe)
Windows
Floppy
If I try to sart OpenSUSE 11.1 it appears to boot OK, but mid way through I loose Video, the
monitor light just flashes green.

If I boot in failsafe it’s fine.

I’m sure this is a driver or a ACPI issue, but I’m not sure how to debug it.

Can someone please give me advise on the logs to look at and the best way to approach this issue.

I’m fairly new to Linux, so please be gental.

Thank You,

Jerry…

Failsafe will use a vesa driver for the graphics. You might need install a graphics diver - have you? What are your specs.

Use failsafe for now until we have more info.

Intel 82945G Express integrated.
Intel Pentium 4 3Ghz.
1GB Ram.
In Yast it shows the correct driver installed, this is of course in safe mode.

Are there any log files I can check in safe mode?

Thanks again.

It shows the correct driver? What does it show?
Is the 3D check box enabled?

In /boot/grub/menu.lst - what is the vga= In the default boot?

What is your monitor size ie; 1024x768?

Just to let people know:

Normally when the light on the monitor flashes it indicates a issue displaying the current resolution setting.

I connected up another monitor and it came up.

I then changed the resolution to a supported resolution for the monitor that was not displaying anything, just flashing the green light.

This resolved the issue.

Thanks for the input.
