hi
since i install suse 11.1 my vaio vgn-sz640 laptop’s fan is very noisy.what should i do?
thanks
Very noisy or it’s just running very offten - it may caused by high X load, processes, etc.?
If it’s just noisy - go clean it.
hi
fan isn’t noisy in windows vista but noisy in suse.
…and what is your answer to my first question?
ps.:sorry, I don’t know anything about your technical experience, but are you sure that it is the fan’s noise? - I mean, maybe it’s your hard-drive, or something else.
i’m an amateur and i think it is fan not hard and in left side of laptop is hot.whatever i don’t have any problem in windows vista
Open a terminal (Konsole in KDE, gnome-terminal in GNOME) window and type:
top
do you see any process (COMMAND column) with high CPU usage? (%CPU column).
no, there is not.
I got the same problem with a Gateway M-6874h laptop. Here is some of my configuration:
Opensuse 11.1 i586
4.1.3 (KDE 4.1.3) “release 4.10.4”
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T7500 @ 2.20GHz
3GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 2600.
Thanks a lot for the “top” command. I’ll be constantly tracking the services to find which one might be the cause of the problem.
Hi! I had the same issue. I’m using 11.1 with KDE 4. I simply disabled strigi and nepomuk and my cpu went from yp to 90° to 50°. Hope it helps
