No Sound on HpPavillion DV5-1170ei

I can use your help. I’ve read a bunch of threads like this one on a variety of forums and tried what others have suggested without luck.
i dont here any system sounds or any sound from any player or flash.
Sound does come out of the earphones ones connected.
