Hi,
For some reason, I am not able to get any sound from my external speaker on my Acer Aspire 5738G. When I plug the speakers in, the sound keeps comming from my internal speaker. How can I fix this?
Thanks,
Harald

some additional info:
cat /proc/asound/modules
0 snd_hda_intel
1 snd_hda_intel
cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel
HDA Intel at 0xf4500000 irq 21
1 [HDMI ]: HDA-Intel - HDA ATI HDMI
HDA ATI HDMI at 0xf4010000 irq 17
cat /etc/modprobe.d/50-sound.conf
options snd slots=snd-hda-intel,snd-hda-intel
alias snd-card-1 snd-hda-intel
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
Please take a look at step#9 here:
SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE
If these are USB speakers, please also look at this USB headphone article here (as it is also applicable to speakers): USB headphones - openSUSE
I’ve allready tried that, but it doesn’t work. Also when I test the HDMI device, no sound is played (neither the internal or the external speakers).
Got it fixed now
Congratulations on sorting this.
