no network connection ?

Hello,

sorry my english is not the best and I am not very professional in using
opensuse.

Earlier I have no problems when I install opensuse. After installation
the network runs and I can run online updating in yast for the system.
But since a few version it doenst work after installation and I dont
know why. I think maybe the errors could happen because I have no
internet connection. But why ? Today I install 11.4 and get this
message when I want to run online updates in yast.

There is an error in the repository initialization
‘repo-update’ http://download.opensuse.org/update/11.4/
[repo-update http://download.opensuse.org/update/11.4/]
Repository is not cached

I think this problem stars with 11.1 or 11.2.

What could be ? What can I do ? Could the network be the problem ?

Thanks

Alex

Can you use the firefox browser ?

No can not open any website in Firefox. So it seems there is no
connection. But wha could be the problem ? Older version of suse I have
never a problem on this pc. Networks works directly after installation.
Since 11.1 or later I have the problem.

Why can I do ? Could the IPv6 support enable the problem ? Ord could it
be a problem that I have a normal network card and a WLAN card in the pc
? Can/should I uninstall wlan card ? I use ethernetcard with cable. Both
cards are detectet automatically.

Thanks

Output of these can help to identify the problem.

sudo -i traceroute www.google.com
ifconfig

And also, there is a good reference article here: Configure a network card in Suse/openSUSE 11.x for Internet Access & wifi.
