Well, the gdm issue was pretty easy to solve. Just reinstalled NVIDIA video drivers in runlevel 3.
But sound seems to be a litle more dificult. Before I spend some hours, I would like to ask if some had the same problem.

You won’t get any volume with your Master volume control muted … note what I highlighted below from the script you provided.
Simple mixer control ‘Master’,0
Capabilities: pvolume pvolume-joined pswitch pswitch-joined penum
Playback channels: Mono
Limits: Playback 0 - 64
Mono: Playback 44 [69%] -20.00dB] **[off]**There may be more problems (for example surround sound is also switched OFF/muted) but you need to unmute the MASTER volume control.
Note I am on vacation in Asia for the next few weeks (Vietnam and Thailand) with only random/internet access, and when on vacation I tend to take vacation not only from work (where I get paid) but also from the openSUSE forums (where I am a volunteer and do not get paid). So it may be some time before I look at this thread again.
