I’m about to upgrade/rebuild my local server so I guess I’d better enable
nfsv4 as it’s supposed to give better performance.
Are there any particular problems with it?
Does the nfsv4 domain name interact with other domain names (e.g. samba,
DNS) or is it purely local to the nfs protocol?

Be aware that NFS4 works considerably differently to earlier versions.
So be sure to read up about it before trying it, and make sure to have
explicit version specifications in all your config files, so you know
what is actually happening.
Personally, I’ve just stuck with V3 for now, so I can’t help with your
specific questions.
