network manager wifi password prompt

I’m not sure if this issue is related to plasma 5.7.3 or some other update . . .
but as of a couple of days ago I am being prompted to enter my wifi password on every boot.
If I go into network manager settings > my connection > edit > wifi security, the password field is empty.
I enter the password and select “store password for this user only (encryted)
but on reboot I am prompted to enter my password again. The “store password” did not stick.
If instead I select “store password and make it available for all users (unencrypted)” and reboot, the password is remembered and I am not prompted to enter it.

What has happened here?
Some kind of bug / policy change / network manager change?

Not that I know of.

Is kwallet enabled?
(Configure Desktop->User Account Details)

Can you access your wallet with kwalletmanager5, is the Wifi password stored in there?

as you can see below kwallet is enabled but the wallet manager is blank. Left is kwalletmanager5 and right I assume is the KDE 4 version.
If I select to add a new wallet and give it a name absolutely nothing happens.
Am I missing something here? Is my wallet broken?

Well, the kwalletmanager windows should not be empty. Something is wrong here.

Do you get any error messages when you run kwalletmanager5 in a konsole?

And just to be sure, look behind all windows, maybe there’s a wallet password request lurking somewhere in the background…

there does seem to be a problem.
This is what konsole report

farcus@linux-jc9u:~> kwalletmanager5
Couldn't start kwalletd: QDBusError("org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ChildExited", "Process org.kde.kwalletd5 exited with status 127")
The kwalletd service is still not registered
Invalid DBus reply: QDBusError("org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ChildExited", "Process org.kde.kwalletd5 exited with status 127")
Connecting to deprecated signal QDBusConnectionInterface::serviceOwnerChanged(QString,QString,QString)
Couldn't start kwalletd: QDBusError("org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ChildExited", "Process org.kde.kwalletd5 exited with status 127")

incidentally . . . is there some problem with susepaste.
I had to upload the image above using my dropbox account.
Trying to add the image to susepaste - it reports “the language field must have a value” - but there are no values to select in the language field.

That’s definitely a problem.

Do you get an error message if you try to run kwalletd5 in konsole?

yes, also getting an error there . . .

farcus@linux-jc9u:~> kwalletd5
kwalletd5: error while loading shared libraries: libKF5Gpgmepp.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

(Re-)install the package “gpgmepp5”.

sudo zypper in -f gpgmepp5

ahhh . . . . that has fixed things up.
package was already installed but a forced reinstall has solved the problem.
I can now view the contents of kwalletmanager5.

Thanks for the assistance
