Every time I open up the logon page for the commonwealth bank’s internet banking page, it starts connecting and then it says :Problem loading page. I have to press refresh 1 or 2 times for it to pop up. It is same for after I put in my logon details. I am using firefox version 7. Trying different web browsers didn’t help either.

net banking is often difficult because so many banks have lost so much
money that they are doing all they can to put a more secure front
end…and, unfortunately they usually only check the ability to log in
with a VERY small selection of MS and Mac browsers…
read my sig’s caveat! then:
-
see if you are the only individual in the world with this
problem…you can do that with (say) google, like:
<http://www.google.com/search?q=“commonwealth+bank+”+linux> where i
happen to see (as the first hit) “If your a commonwealth bank customer
and you use ubuntu or other linux OS you may find that the Netbank
website is extremely slow to login to.” at <http://noronha.id.au/tag/linux/> -
if you find you have no help from that, then see if there is a nearby
Linux Users Group, you can use google again, like if in the UK:
http://www.google.com/search?q=“linux+users+group”+uk and change the
country to appropriate…most will have a web and many have already
figured out exactly what browser/java/etc is required… -
if neither of the above help: what i would suggest first is to visit
the bank web site and find the link there ti a page which outlines the
software necessary to netbank with them…i’m sure you won’t find
openSUSE (or probably any other Linux) listed but never mind we can
usually get in if we cross our fingers and have exactly the java
runtime they require…
then uninstall any and all other java packages (especially get rid of
the openJDK, they sometimes fail with strict bank software routines) and
install only the SUN java version and browser plug-in the bank specifies…
then cross your fingers and try again…
