Hi, I used Tumbleweed and Leap 16 for some time and I really, really loved them both. The stability of Leap on my older laptop and the modern system and packages on my gaming PC. I then distro-hopped around for a bit and came across the name change request from SUSE and the logo contest and stuff. Basically I just want to know if that was cancelled, never serious or if any progress is being made or will things remain as they are right now? Why? because it’s all a bit weird and confusing to me, in my mind specifically and I don’t want to return to one of my favourite Linux distributions until I actually understand what is happening. I’m not wanting to start heated discussions or arguments, I’m asking so I can put my own concerns to bed and come back. Someone just tell me that’s old news and everything is great so I can shut my brain up, please.
There was no formal “contest”, it was just a community discussion.
There was a formal name change request from SUSE and a huge mailing list discussion and it’s not clear in any way whatsoever what’s going on. Not sure why you just laser focused on logo contest and ignored the rest. Fine, maybe the logo contest was not formal but that doesn’t really answer most of what I asked.

I would call the logo contest formal. It did include that it could not be a binding result though. This for trade-mark reasons.
And please let’s not open the other parts. The news is old, the rumour has died out, victims have been counted etc.

Anyway, my thoughts as for where things are at today…openSUSE is still called openSUSE, Tumbleweed is still Tumbleweed, and Leap is still Leap. No rebranding resulted from those discussions, and for most users the project will feel much the same as it did before. So if you’re considering returning, I wouldn’t let those past discussions put you off. 
I was just saying that while there was a massive discussion here about any suggested name change, it was in no way official by any stretch of the imagination, and the discussion has died out entirely.

Thank you, I was honestly not trying to start something - I absolutely love Tumbleweed and Leap but I can be a bit OCD about things and they annoy me in my mind until I get some kind of clarification on them.

I will accept that as gospel.
I don’t have a candidate for name change but I have a suggestions that will greatly improve things. openSUSE and also tumbweed need to have the new name that is much shorter and not mix caps and small letters. I can’t tell how many times I’ve cursed openSUSE when typing OS name in a browser search panel.
