Try YaST>Software Management and search for mysql and then check the versions; you will find that 5.5 is in the OBS and available for 11.4

But that was my question because if I open mysql for Suse am looking for, he finds only 5.1.51. So I thought I ask here whether the time is right

please, do not misunderstand what i write: you are VERY welcome here and
we want to help you, but i think you are using an on-line translator
that is not very good, because what you are writing in English just does
not make sense.

what is your native language? are you using Google Translate (if not,
try it…i hear it is the best available…)?

maybe one of the non-english forums available from here could help you
better: http://forums.opensuse.org/

there you will find forums in Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew,
Hungarian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish

Hi specie

Do you run a very heavy MySQL application on a powerful multi-core hardware, using InnoDB tables and requiring enhanced scalability? Then you might consider to install 5.5.15. In any other case the version bundled with openSUSE will fit your needs.

openSUSE is not made for those folks who follow the “Garfield principle” and want to see the latest version number at all times typing “show VARIABLES LIKE ‘version’;”. If you require the latest you can upgrade from additional OBS repos as pointed out in post#3.

P.S.: echo “Garfield principle” | sed -e “s/.*/I want to have it/”

Did you highlight mysql and check the Versions tab? It shows 5.1 in the list but, if you open the Versions tab, you will find 5.5. YaST does not update from a repo you have not installed but, if you choose to change to 5.5, it will change the repo.
