multiple IMAP accounts on Claws Mail

Hi everybody!

I got a problem with Claws Mail (ver 3.11) setting up multiple IMAP4 accounts. I installed it with zypper and set up my first IMAP account. I copied the settings from Kmail (receiving server, smtp one, etc… - auto configure doesn’t work) and everything works. If I try to add another account, with the same settings (they are both @live.com accounts) the only thing I see is that CM creates a new folder with name of the new account but it can’t sync to it. It just doesn’t work. I can’t check new account’s mails nor sending any.

Any suggestions?

Hi
Upgrade to the 3.13.1 version from GNOME:Apps repository and see how that goes, there are some IMAP enhancements which may address this issue;

Thank you for your help. I’ve just updated CM but the issue remains. May that be related to Kmail and its config files ?

Hi
I wouldn’t think so, You just entered manually the relevant data for each account? Maybe it’s an issue with your mail host? I’ve run multiple imap accounts with gmail without issues.

Does it use specific ports on your mail provider or the default 143?

Thank you malcolmlewis for participating in my thread.

I’ve finally solved the issue. I don’t know why but after recreating the folder tree for about 17 times, the imap account I wanted to add eventually worked. Asking for help in CM IRC no one couldn’t find a reason for this weird behaviour. Credentials were right, ports too, maybe it’s an issue of my mail provider (outlook.com). As far as I learnt today, to make work multiple outlook accounts in CM you have to follow this settings:

imap server: imap-mail.outlook.com port:993
smtp server: smtp.mail.outlook.com port:587
SSL: IMAP4 “use SSL for IMAP4 connection” Send “don’t use SSL (if necessary STARTTLS)”
Send: “SMTP Authentication (SMTP AUT)” set to “automatic”

If an outlook account doesn’t work, try to recreate its folder tree (right click on the folder related to the account) until it does (at least it worked for me). I hope this may help other people that would accidentally occur in the same issue.
