Hallo!
Nach langer Zeit noch einmal eine Meldung von mir zu diesem Thema, sorry.
Als erstes: mittlerweile glaube ich auch nicht mehr unbedingt, dass es an Firefox liegt, vor kurzem hatte ich als einzige Anwendung Digikam offen, dort den Mauszeiger einmal quer über den Bildschirm geschoben (es lief nicht irgendeine besondere Bildbearbeitung oder so, sondern ich war nur im View-Modus) und zack, Freeze.
Hier noch einmal die Details zusammengefasst in der Übersicht:
- Ich habe unregelmäßig (ohne besondere Korrelation) und selten (ca. alle 2 bis 3 Wochen) einen System-Freeze.
- Wenn ich das Problem habe, hilft i.d.R. nur ein Hardware-Reboot (ein einziges Mal konnte ich den hängenden Firefox killen und neu starten). I.d.R. habe ich keinen Zugriff mehr auf Tastatur und Maus. (Login per SSH scheidet aus: zum einen ist SSH deaktiviert, zum anderen bräuchte ich überhaupt einen weiteren Computer im Zugriff. Ich habe zwar prinzipiellen Zugriff auf weitere Systeme (openSUSE Slowroll, macOS 14, Windows 10/11), aber nur temporär und lokal begrenzt, i.d.R. nie gemeinsam.)
- Bisher kann ich das Problem leider nicht sicher reproduzieren. (Und beim tatsächlichen Auftreten erkenne ich bisher auch keine besonderen Begleitumstände.)
- Wenn das Problem auftritt, ist das System nicht zwingend unter großer Last: teilweise laufen nur wenige Anwendungen, manchmal nur eine einzige Anwendung (abgesehen von Hintergrund-Diensten des Systems, die bei einer regulären openSUSE Leap Installation eingerichtet wurden. Die benutzten Anwendungen sind eigentlich nicht besonders ressourcenhungrig (i.d.R. “Office”-Anwendungen…).
Was ich schon getestet habe:
- Memtest86+: 6 erfolgreiche Passes (läuft quasi ewig — nach 6 Passes abgebrochen)
- MemTest86: 4 erfolgreiche Passes (d.h. ein regulärer Standard-Lauf)
- s-tui gemeinsam mit stress-ng: nach ca. 1 Stunde ohne besonderen Befund abgebrochen

Dabei ist anzumerken, dass #10 openSUSE-Repositories-X11-Xfce erst seit einer Weile installiert ist, und ich auch schon vorher das beschriebene Problem hatte. Dieses Repo habe ich, weil ich sonst nicht WebDAV unter Thunar fehlerfrei nutzen kann (mit klappt es — es muss irgendwo dort einen Fix gegeben haben).
Also, ja, ich habe einige Repos eingebunden. Aber so viele Pakete sind tatsächlich nicht durch Factory Versionen ausgetauscht. (Sondern eher zusätzliche Pakete installiert. Oder es betrifft teilweise Pakete, wie z.B. TeXstudio oder XFractint, die eigentlich keinen Einfluss haben sollten. Als fragwürdige Kandidaten bleiben eigentlich nur:

VideoLAN-Download-SUSE (braucht man ja eigentlich schon, wenn man VLC vernünftig benutzen möchte…)

openSUSE-Repositories-Mozilla (der Fehler kommt, wie heute geschildert — im Gegensatz zur Vergangenheit, aber nicht nur bei Firefox zum Tragen)

openSUSE-Repositories-X11-Xfce (wie oben bereits erwähnt noch gar nicht so lange dabei)
Und ich frage mich, ob es wirklich an den Repos liegen muss. Aber da hier halt danach gefragt wurde… Es kann ja auch an der Hardware (was?! — RAM-Test, SSD-Test, Stress-Test habe ich ja bereits gemacht, laut inxi ist nichts Außergewöhnliches verbaut…) liegen.
Kann es auch eventuell sein, dass irgendeine spezifische Datei im System korrupt ist? So, dass das System überwiegend (gut) läuft, aber manchmal eben doch Fehler produziert. Wo könnte man da ansetzen, was kann man da noch prüfen?
Noch jemand Ideen?
