Missing packages in repositories for opensuse leap 16 alpha

I installed openSUSE leap 16.0 alpha.

I am using Awesome as a window manager. I tried to install the following packages:

a) nitrogen
b) lxappearance
c) numlockx
d) dunst

However, I cannot install these packages. They are simply not available in the repositories.

The repositories installed/configured by default are:

a) openSUSE:repo-non-oss
b) https-download.opensuse.org-6c2407c8
c) openSUSE:repo-non-oss-debug
d) openSUSE:repo-openh264
e) openSUSE:repo-oss
f) openSUSE:repo-oss-debug
g) openSUSE:repo-oss-source

So far, those are the only packages I tried to install as per my needs for now. Chances are that other packages might be missing too.

Therefore, I cannot change settings such as theme, icons, etc. as per functionality provided those packages above.

Are those packages perhaps not going to be included in the next release of Leap 16.0?

Thanks.

Changed the tag from “other” to “leap-16-alpha”

Please note the “Alpha” part.

Well, it’s only a guess on my part, but the webpage below states there is no official packages for Leap 15.6 … so it’s up in the air whether it shows up for 16. Much depends on popularity and demand.

https://software.opensuse.org/package/awesome

This page has been broken for Leap for years and it should be well known to someone who is frequent contributor to this forum. Stop referring to this page for package availability.

https://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.6/repo/oss/x86_64/nitrogen-1.6.1-bp156.3.6.x86_64.rpm

https://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.6/repo/oss/x86_64/awesome-4.3-bp156.4.7.x86_64.rpm

The packages are actually available in Leap 15.6.

Thanks for updating/changing the tag.

Does it mean that they are likely to appear in the future depending on demand, probably with the release of beta version next month? Not sure if I get the context right with “Alpha part”.

Yes, they might. That said, releasing goes Alpha → Beta → Release Candidate(s). But we do not distribute unmainained packages / software, so you would have to check that.

Yes, however, what’s available for Leap 15.6 is “experimental”, not “official”.

I’m talking about the distro. Official stuff that is.

Why not doing a basic resarch and reading the comments in this thread? The named packages from the first post are all available in the official openSUSE Leap 15.6 OSS/backport repository.

It is absolutely easy to verify this…

Well noted, thank you very much. Will wait for beta release next month, hopefully they will appear. I am more of a window manager user, thus, without these packages, it will be more problematic for me.

Absolutely correct. All packages are officially available as per your outputs above. Thus, was wondering or surprised that they didn’t make it to Leap 16 alpha yet or won’t make it at all.

Not sure what do you mean experimental herein?
