Minecraft will not work after update to 12.1

I get the following output in the error message when I try and start minecraft under 12.1 (KDE) it worked great on 11.4 and 11.1.

Stab in the dark
Sun Java is not in the 12.1 repos
I see ref to it, so did you install it manually, is it required for this game?

Well I can’t say. I may have had it inadvertently in 11.4 but I thought I was running it with the GNU version in 11.4.
It plays on the test box which was upgraded with zypper dup prior to this one from 11.4 as well.
The only real difference between the systems is .5Ghz and the Video cards.
This is a Nvidia 8900 and it has a Nvidia 9500. They are using the same Nvidia files from the repo.

Well it seems toggling desktop effects on and effect openGL in someway that impacted Minecraft and RetroBlazer. When enabled with alt-shift-f12 the games will play. When off the games will not launch.

Minecraft is working now. Two birds with one stone.
Thank you openSUSE community.

Wow
Good news

It isn’t required, I run Minecraft 1.1 with openJDK and it works pretty
well here.

It does actually say:
also please use Sun’s JVM

Not using it has been an issue. It’s not in the repos for a reason. I figure than that reason would be ORACLE by my reckoning. May they sue themselves in to bankruptcy.

Correct

You have to install it manually.

Interesting…now I’ll have to check and see if I am using the Sun JVM…

Yeah, I’m using the openJDK and the only issue I have is that it doesn’t
exit properly.

I have had zero issues what any of the Minecraft versions. I have had it since beta and bought it back then.
The differences in machines running the same OS and architecture are noticeable here. What works fine for some might not work for others.I think I had Sun JAVA on 11.4. I know I had on 11.3. This incarnation of this machine being on it’s third OS after major hardware transplants. Not sure what installing it might break.

I have been trying to play RetroBlazer but I suck. It’s a FPS and runs on Linux. I also have tried to get some Japanese bullet hell games working under WINE with little success.
