MicroOS install with Ignition still prompts for root password

I’m trying to automate building and installing MicroOS on Proxmox with Packer. I’m able to get it started and have it read from an Ignition config. Inside it, I have a password hash defined for the root user. However, the installation wizard still prompts for the root password, along with the keyboard language and locale. Am I missing something?

I am using the container host self install ISO.

Have you seen/used https://opensuse.github.io/fuel-ignition/?

I switched to Combustion as it made more sense from a scripting point of view, from memory Ignition did work on VM’s and bare-metal?

I haven’t, since I’m using butane to generate the ignition file
