messed up gnome theme

So I have this new installation of opensuse Leap, and since KDE Plasma
5, though very pretty, is still a bit too unstable, I am trying to learn
to use gnome.

I downloaded some themes from gnome-look.org, and I installed them using
the tweak tool. Here is the list of files I downloaded:

/Downloads/Gnome> ls
13548-Gnome_MacOS-X_Aqua_Theme_20040730.tar.gz
140562-Zukitwo.zip
147061-Gnome-Cupertino-2.1.5.tar.gz
166387-Dark Mode-3.18.zip
174477-Numix-Style-Shell.tar.gz
Adwaita-White1_4.zip
Cupertino
delorean_dark_theme_3_6_vs_2_56_by_killhellokitty-d5fslhj.zip
gnome_integration-0.4.4-tb-linux.xpi
Windows.10.Dark.v0.8.5.zip
Windows.10.Light.v0.8.5.zip
Yosemite-Shelll(2014-16)-without panel.zip

I had already installed the gnome-shell-extensions from the repository,
so I was able to install these shell themes in the appearance tab on the
tweak tool.

After logging out and logging back in, I started to try some of these
themes. When I click on them, it would change. But something went wrong,
and when I clicked on one of them (I don’t remember which), I got the
“Oh no, something went wrong” screen, and was logged out of gnome.

I can log back in, but as you can see from the following screen shots, I
cannot enable shell themes now. If I try to turn on the user themes
extension, then it happens again.

I know that the problem is with one of those themes. Except I don’t know
which one, where it is installed, and how to remove it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. It seems all I would have to do
is remove the offending them manually by navigating to the appropriate
directory and pulling it out. Also, I would like to just delete the
offending file. I am afraid if I clear out the entire /usr/themes/
directory, I may cause more problems, since many of those items were
installed from the repositories.

I found the user themes in ~/.local/share/themes and deleted them all.

But no change. I tried removing the user-themes extension from the tweak
tool and logging back in. Then I went to firefox and downloaded again
the user-themes shell extension from here:
https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/19/user-themes/

But when I downloaded it (switched the button to ‘on’), again I get the
“Oh no something wrong happened” screen, and I am forced to log out.

I have no idea if that is helpful or not.

Please help!

Hi
If it’s not installed, install dconf-editor and start it. Browse down to org->gnome->shell->extensions->user-theme and make sure the theme is removed, double-click and clear. Then restart the shell, press alt+F2 enter the letter r and press enter (this restarts the shell, no need to logout).

Just make sure the themes your downloading are compatible whith Gnome Shell 3.16.

I just tried this one, no issues here with Leap;

Try this one and confirm if it breaks things. All you need to do is download the zip file and then browse to it via the tweak tool, let it load (may take a little bit of time) and you should be good to go.

Hi
Can you fix your email address to no-mx.forums.microfocus.com
