Mediatek 6E MT7902 Wireless LAN Card

Dear forum members,

I have recently installed Suse tumbleweed on an Asus Vivobook that I bought in August 2023. It contains a MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E MT7902 Wireless LAN Card, but this is not recognized by the operating system. “Infozentrum” (I am installing in German) tells that the device contains a subsystem “AzureWave Device 5520”. Is this hardware supported? And if yes, how do I get it to work?

Best regards,

Yorck

Post:
/sbin/lspci -nnk | grep -iA3 net

so that we see th ID of that Card.

This command yields:

0000:02:00.0 Network controller [0280]: MEDIATEK Corp. Device [14c3:7902]
DeviceName: WLAN
Subsystem: AzureWave Device [1a3b:5520]
10000:e0:06.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation Raptor Lake PCIe 4.0 Graphics Port [8086:a74d]

There are countless reports for many linux distributions that this device is not supported yet as there is no driver existing…

I found this web page on mediatek wifi cards here:

Will this provide support for my card, too?

No.

Up to date, there is no driver for your card.

Buy a cheap USB-Dongle

Thank you! Do you think that the card will be supported in the future?

Maybe ?
Maybe not?

I can not say something about that.

Thanks a lot, guys, both of you! I will buy an external device.
