Making an Epson Stylus DX5000 work

Good evening community!

I am having a little trouble getting my printer/scanner combo working on openSUSE 13.1 64-bit (KDE). I have searched the drivers on the repositories and downloaded the only one that appeared. But when trying to access CUPS on my start menu it only sends me to this website. No menu, no recognition of my device, no nothing.

So please if you could help me I’d be really grateful since I need to scan some documents ASAP.

Thank you very much for your attention.

Go to the Epson site, search for DX5000, and download the drivers from

That’s not a link to an external website - it is the CUPS web interface for configuration/management (residing on your computer)

Once you’ve downloaded the drivers and installed with a package manager, you can proceed with installing, either using YaST > Hardware > Printer, or the CUPS web interface (you referred to earlier). If you need further guidance with this let us know.

Epson Stylus DX 5000 works here out-of-the-box, both Scanner and Printer.

No need to download a Driver.

it only sends me to this website.

That´s the Side “http://locllahost:631”, the start Side of cups.
You can configure your Printer there or with Yast----Hardware.

Also your Scanner will be configured with Yast------Hardware.

Thank you very much! I have just downloaded the drivers and will check out later when I get home and plug my printer on.

Ok, now all drivers are downloaded, and the ImageScan app works. Thank you very much again!

That’s great news! Enjoy.
