Main repository (Source) is empty in YAST software manager

Hello,

Looking for source code packages I have configured the “Main repository (Sources)” into the yast list of repositories.

However when I select the repository view in th esoftware manager it shows this repository as empty. Other repositories work.

I have checked the link to the repository to be valid. I have added it automatically from the “Community repositories”.

Of course it is enabled

I forgot to mention that I am using OpenSuSE 11.2. The link to th erepository is Index of /source/distribution/11.2/repo/oss (anonymous access)

Hi
Everything is there under
http://download.opensuse.org/source/distribution/11.2/repo/oss/suse/src/

Hi Malcolm,

Thank you for your reply. Sure I know that the packages are there  , however I would like to see them in Yast as all the meta data is there: content pointing to the correct decription directory.

Hi
They should be under the versions tab, or select the repository view.

I was possibly not clear enough about the “empty”. I do not find any source package when searching, and when in Repository view I see packages in each repository I select, except for the sources repository which shows an empty package list (only the headers).

Hi
Added here and had a content key error, also using Gnome/QT GUI it
wants to switch(downgrade) the packages to match source packages
which wipes out the updates…

The src packages are however viewable (and installable) via zypper from
the command line.

The issue I see is you need to also add update sources for any
packages… so unless you do that suggest you use zypper from the
command line.

Also are what desktop environment are you using?

Usually I am using the character cell yast interface as I log through ssh to this server.

Hi
Ahh, the ncurses, well since your at the command line, use zypper it’s
a lot quicker.

zypper se -t srcpackage <name>
zypper in -t srcpackage <name>

You could add an alias to make it quicker as well.

Sorry but that was not the question. I don’t want to use zypper but I want to know why YaST does not display the source reporsitory.

Meanwhile I have tried YaST debug logging with no success, did not find anything abnormal.

Nobody has a clue why this does not work with Yast ?

Hi
I would suggest raising a bug. If you run the graphic version (maybe
also in ncurses), it asks to “Switch system packages” which advises it
will break the system… My assumption would be if you have updates
and the update repository (which contains src rpms) it shouldn’t create
this problem.

Both the oss and non-oss repositories are missing the content.key file necessary for Yast to show the content.
