LTS Kernel for Tumbleweed Available. How to switch over?

I just saw in the Engineering Minutes on the Factory Mailing List that there is now an LTS kernel (6.6.x) option specifically for Tumbleweed users. How would one go about switching to this kernel on an existing Tumbleweed install? I have nothing nice to say about kernel 6.7.x so far, and I would love to take advantage of this.

Install kernel-longterm. Reboot with kernel-longterm. Uninstall kernel-default.

Could you elaborate on step 2?

Reboot and chose “Advanced options for openSUSE Tumbleweed” in bootloader. Chose kernel-longterm there…

Thanks everyone. I’ve switched over to the longterm kernel smoothly. Already I am happy with the results.

It has the same bugs as the lemon 6.7.6 :pensive:

I wouldn’t be surprised if at the very least security patches are backported. That’s pretty typical IME for LTS kernels.

I did a full bisection with help from this guide, doesn’t look like a security issue to me.
Greg KH did it for some other reason

Culprit commit:

Going to 6.6.18 fixed my 6.7 bugs. Your bugs may vary.

Happy for you :slightly_smiling_face:
I’m still waiting on a fix. If I could go the rest of my life without troubleshooting another kernel bug, I’d die a happy man.
