transactional-update finished

Well I guess something to worry I can’t boot the system anymore looping black screen and again restart constantly. It seems it trying to boot, but can’t boot and restart system

Where does this version come from? In Tumbleweed 20240730 the systemd is still version 255.

Yes, you cannot really boot without PID 1. Boot from a previous snapshot.

from fresh install AEON installed apps and NVIDIA and nvidia didint work might be initrd issues so just hit terminal sudo transactional-update dup since new snapshot has released yesterday

yeah booted previous snap it works, but no nvidia now only on igpu

I was sure MicroOS and derivatives use Tumbleweed repositories. I am not familiar with Aeon in details, hopefully someone can shed the light here.

yep from TW

Yes, I apologize, I was sure I refreshed repositories after switching to the latest snapshot. I run zypper dup on Tumbleweed and it was OK, no errors. So, it looks like MicroOS specific issue. Zypper defaults to downloading everything in advance and updating in a single run, MicroOS downloads and installs each package separately.

You could try

transactional-update shell
zypper dup --download in-advance

@PhatLe yes, lots of chatter on the Aeon Matrix channel yesterday, the work around is as follows;

vi /etc/sysconfig/bootloader
LOADER_TYPE=systemd-boot

transactional-update run zypper up systemd-boot systemd

reboot

transactional-update dup

reboot

Since selinux was updated, boot may take some time as relabeling is required, be patient!

Thanks will test that one and I was keeping it booting for 15 minutes it restart every 1 minute so if this is working workaround I will defo do this when back on laptop

@PhatLe just remember to boot from an earlier working snapshot, tapping the F8 key at boot should bring up the systemd boot menu…

For me spacebar did the trick when booting

Ref: 1228659 – Snapshot 20240730 - unbootable after transactional-update dup

well i dont have this no syscofig/bootloader in present

Correct it needs to be created. Part of the bug…

thanks just tested this on my testing laptop and created it it seems to works no issues

it seems it started to asking now on each boot recovery key. The temp fix can actually boot, but on all devices i have it is asking now after update recovery key so there is something more indepth there still
