Logitech Quickcam Messenger Plus driver

I have a Logitech’s Quickcam Messenger Plus webcam under opensuse 11.0 which refuses to work.

so far, I have these drivers installed
uvcvideo-kmp-default
quickcam-kmp-default
gspcav-kmp-default
gspcav1-kmp-default

luvcview gets a error message
pqq@linux-vy29:~> luvcview

SDL information:

A window manager is available
Device information:

lsusb shows as following message

Does anybody know which webcam driver I have to use? I know there are many different quickcam models and they don’t share the same driver, but not sure which is for which.
Thanks.

depending on your kernel, gspca driver should work fine with it.

Andy

my kernel is 2.6.25.11-0.1 32 bit X86 version, I installed my OS from downloaded 4G DVD: opensuse-11.0-DVD-i386.iso

I just find the cam works fine in amsn, on its video setting screen (ie. amsn>account>preference>others>audio and video settings>edit audio and video settings) I can see myself and video device=v4l:logitech quickcam usb.
except amsn, it never works in any other programs.
in skype, the video looks like ghost shadow but if I move, the shadow follows.
in cheese, video shows nothing but mosaic.

Dunno about skype or cheese, don’t use them, but, it appears to be a problem with those programs, if it works fine with amsn

Andy

The webcam only works in the setup screen of amsn as I mentioned above, untortunately I can’t use amsn because it does not support video chat yet. I have to use skype. I still think it is a driver issue, probably amsn includes a right driver for my cam?

Does anyone has a Logitech Quickcam Messenger Plus and it works under skype video chat?

Hi,

It is easy to make UVC cameras work with skype and openSUSE.

Check both these posts:
