I login and receive a window claiming 500. It has been very consistent in the last few months. I can nevertheless proceed as logged in, eventually. What s the point of this frission?
If you mean for the forums, it’s an issue with the identity provider - we’ve been attempting to figure out why we get an incorrect redirect URI from the provider at random times.
The root cause has been very elusive because it doesn’t happen very often, and it is very difficult to reproduce.
If you’re talking about something else, then we’ll need more details - but if it is the forums login, then I’ll move this over to the forums feedback, where this has been discussed previously.
Yes, the Forums login.
I have had no difficulty with this. It happens every time I log in these days.
Then you should have posted this in “Forums feedback” (I guess staff will move it there). And when you would have gone there, you might have seen this one:
Will move this from Applications.
Unfortunately, for those of us who have looked at it, it has been elusive. We’ve also had some difficulty getting support from the identity provider’s project itself. I just tried it myself, and it succeeded again; you can tell by looking at the login page, if the banner says “discourse.opensuse.org wants to use your openSUSE Account credentials”, it will succeed. If it says something else wants to use them, it will fail.
If you don’t see “discourse.opensuse.org” in the banner, you can try going back and clicking the Log In button again and see if it changes to the correct value, or after you’ve logged in, just go to the forums home page and you’ll be logged in (the auth token is present even if you get the 500 error, but that error is not coming from the forums; it’s coming from wherever you got redirected to, and it happens because the site that you got redirected to didn’t ask for the authentication, so it can’t find the request in its database).

It comes and goes. I normally log in once a day. I would say that about 25% goes into the ERROR 500. As discussed in the other thread, trying again in a new wind/tab will show you are already logged in. After that you can close the page/tab with the ERROR 500.
A bit frustrating, but I can live with it.
