is there some steps that i could follow to prevent this?
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

you are getting this - when?
After the green boot screen?

are you using a cd or dvd

and did you run the media check
and you burned this yourself- how

am getting this before the green splash screen.
using a dvd installation disk that i purchased.
no have not run media check…not sure how to do that.

thanks for you reply.

it could be faulty

is this the first linux dvd install you have done? or have any worked before in your DVD drive?
Do you have any other discs to hand? Perhaps just boot one to see, or even a Live CD? How do they respond?

You can only run the media check if the dvd boots.
You can do a MD5SUM check of your dvd, but you probably don’t know what that SUM is, as it is likely to be different from the one we use when we download an image - It depends where you bought the dvd from?
