Line spacing excess is destructive

Anywhere but in this forum what I pasted into this thread would have no spaces between adjacent line drawing characters. The screenshot is from Chromium, but the misplaced spaces exist in Firefox too. There’s no good reason for line-height to be anything but normal in pasted code text, or in any other kind of text block, like an ordinary paragraph. Extra line height is an apparent aid to reading too small text that wouldn’t exist if the text wasn’t too small. Any extra height should be used for taller characters, not more whitespace.

BTW, I had to do this in FF. Normally I use Chromium for forum posting, but the forum’s upload link does nothing in 15.5’s Chromium.

I see what you mean, but I don’t see anything wrong with it. The message is still clear.

Opened in SeaMonkey, where site CSS can’t be as insistent, each expected connection between line drawing characters exists.
