Libreoofice problem

Hello
After update SuSe Leap 15.2 -> 15.3 I have problem with libreoffice.
When system start, everyfing work correct. Libreoffice start immediately.
After couple minutes when I open writer/calc I must wait 2 minutes when I see the writer window.
No error. When I have started one document writer/calc I can start another documents immediately.
When I close all libreoffice window, then I must wait another 2 minutes to see documents open.

I installed 7.1.3.2-14.22.6-1 from official repozitory. I installed from libreoffice repozitory (https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/LibreOffice:/) too and I have then same “error”.
I deleted /home/user/.config/libreoffice/ folder

What should i must do?

Maybe you can add which DE (Gnome, KDE, …)you use. It might be that in the end it is of no importance, but every piece of information is welcome.

(BTW the name of the product covered by these forums is openSUSE, not SuSE).

Running Leap 15.3, I have kernel 5.3.18-59.37-default.

Is there a reason why you use a preempt kernel?

Standard update: kernel-default 5.3.18-59.10.1 from http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.3/repo/oss/

how to set default?
ok I set

Well, the current up-to-date is of course not from the OSS repo (which has indeed 5.3.18-59.10.1), but from the OSS-Update repo (which has 5.3.18-59.37.2).

The preempt kernel is on the same repos with the same version numbers.

Once you have the preempt kernel, an update will give you the up-to-date preempt kernel, not the up-to-date default kernel.

The question was why you have the preempt kernel instead of the default default kernel?
It may be that you do not know. Long ago there was some problem that resulted in several people getting the preempt instead of the default. Those cases where repaired also long ago. But it could be that you still have updated all the time getting the preempt.

I don’t know why. I have not noticed.
I updated couple time OpenSUSE from 42.2 version. 42.2->42.3->15.0->15.1->15.2->15.3

I still have

uname -a
Linux linux-a50k 5.3.18-59.10-default

That is thus the default one and not the preempt. But you still need to update to get the 37 build.

zypper patch

or

zypper up

or
YaST > Software > Online Update

BTW, when you show something from the terminal, like your uname -a. please do copy/paste always everything. Do not alter or leave out things. At least not without telling you did. Incomplete command/output may confuse people. Thus e.g.
here:

henk@boven:~> uname -a
Linux boven 5.3.18-59.37-default #1 SMP Mon Nov 22 12:29:04 UTC 2021 (d10168e) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
henk@boven:~>

Of course when there is e.g. a password there, you may make that ***, but always tell you did.

And now, after being up-to-date, of course an important question.

Do you still have your original problem?

Sorry, it is only now that I saw your repo list.

First, this is not a list that tells us much. We need the URLs to know what repos you have. Now we only have names and aliases, which can be anything.

Thus, please:

zypper lr -d

And a question. Did you ever run an update after you upgraded to 15.3?
As far as I can see it, you are missing the two new update repos that belong to 15.3.

linux-a50k:~ # zypper patch
Loading repository data…
Reading installed packages…
Resolving package dependencies…
Nothing to do.

linux-a50k:~ # zypper up

linux-a50k:~ # uname -a

Still the same
When I start the system libreoffice works ok, after a few minutes I have to wait about 2 minutes for the document to open…

The list does not look too bad.

But you are missing the “Updates from openSUSE Backports” and “Updates from SUSE Linux Enterprise 15” repos. Those are new in 15.3 and should have been added in the upgrade process. And in my case, that happened.

It is strange that there are no updates. But you did not answer my question: Did you do any update after the upgrade?

And about your LibreOffice problem, it is now clear that you do NOT use the standard versions, but added the Factory repo. Something you should have told us :(. How can someone help if you do not tell what you use?
Are you sure you have a good to use that Factory version of LibreOffice?

Strange –

  • Here on openSUSE Leap 15.3 my LibreOffice version is 7.1.4.2 10(Build:2) (libreoffice --version) – installed from the “Update repository with updates from SUSE Linux Enterprise 15
    ” repository …

The other comments to your post are indicating that, you seem to have a fairly major Leap 15.3 repository issue.

  • Leap 15.3 uses more than a few SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 components.

Please take extreme note of the Leap 15.3 Release Notes entry regarding this fact – <https://doc.opensuse.org/release-notes/x86_64/openSUSE/Leap/15.3/index.html#installation-new-update-repos>.

With Leap 15.3, you have to make sure that, you have the following (two) SLE and Backports repositories defined and activated/enabled –

Hello
Every day:

zypper ref && zypper clean && zypper lu && zypper --non-interactive --no-gpg-checks up --auto-agree-with-licenses && zypper ps -s

Libreoffice I check from official and unofficial repository - the same waiting time after couple minutes

What priority I must set from this my missing new two repozitory to 15.3 (Update repository with updates from SUSE Linux Enterprise 15, Update repository of openSUSE Backports )

I do not see any reason to change the prioroties of the standard repo from what they were at installation. That is 99, also for the two new ones.

Some people set Packman to a lower number (higher priority) so that when they install something new that exists on the standard repos and also on Packmane the will give them the Packman version.

I do not see any reason to set a repo like Teams on a higher priority. There is no Teams package on any other repo, thus you will get what you want.

I have no idea in what category the other extra repos belong, but spending much time on thinking about priority of repos is spoiling it IMHO.

BTW you can disable that libdvdcss repo. Once you have installed the package from there it will not change anymore.

And of course (am I repeating myself?) as you have an LibreOffice problem, why do you have that Factory repo and do not stick to the version that belongs to openSUSE 15.3?
You never answered that. Because of your problem I have the strong feeling that some mixing here is the culprit.
I would say, either you need that Factory for some reason, then my advise would be to do a fresh switch to that to remove a possible mix.
When you now decide you in fact do not need the Factory, then remove the repo and do a zypper dup to switch all of LibreOffice back to normal.

I only have .config/Libreoffice
When I deleted and start Libreoffice folder and files created but I must wait 2 minutes to see the writer window.
And now i can open all document quickly. When I close all I must wait 2 minutes to start…
