the last updated DarkMode with libre office. Sorry, but Dark Mode is so bad and unusable, I find the automatic activation surprising.
Spreadsheet you suddenly have black on black text, unreadable control and text elements.
Writer, the documents become unreadable.
This DarkMode behaviour has not changed for years. Is there no way to make a good dark mode, with actually inverting dark fonts, if the background is black?
Take a look at Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice -> Personalization and you can change the font color by choosing a option from the drop down menu on the right panel.
I had the same issue on Gnome recently. At the time had to switch to light mode in Libre office under options - appearance. Although your post today made me revisit it & I stumbled across this extension that you can install via the appearance menu. Seems to work although not sure if you wanted an all black background with light text too as it doesn’t seem to do that? Light Application Extension
OOOOps! Testing out this, I found that a fresh user (or deleting/renaming ~/.config/libreoffice) and using only the Gnome/System “Dark style” switcher everything seems OK: white background/black fonts on “Light style” and black background/white fonts on “Dark style”.
HOWEVER, if you once fiddle with the LibreOffice Options>Appearance settings, the “Dark” setting does not switch font color and even if you revert to the “System” setting the Gnome Style switcher only switches the frame and menus, but not the document background/text, like the OP witnessed.
So there is an issue maybe worth a bug report.
Will report back if I find something useful.
