LibreOffice Base JDBC connection failure

I am getting the error message The driver class “org.mariadb.jdbc.Driver” could not be loaded.
when trying to connect to a Mariadb 10 server from LOBase.

Libreoffice 26.2.4.2 (X86_64)
Mariadb 10.

Does anyone know what I should be looking for?

java-21-openjdk

and

mariadb-java-client

are installed

I notice that, in my current configuration under Tools>Options>LibreOffice>Advanced, I have JRE selected and the only entry for Vendor/Version shows

N/A           21.01.11

also the Class Path window is empty.

Is that correct?
