Lenovo Thinkpad T14 Gen4

Hi!

I’m in a market for new laptop for work. Workplace will provide it, I just need to pick a model. We are mostly a Thinkpad shop, so I’ve been looking at Thinkpad T14 Gen4. Is anyone here using it with Leap? Intel or AMD model? Is all the hardware working smoothly or are there any issues? I don’t mind updating to newer kernel or installing some out-of-tree drivers if needed, but don’t want to end up with something where for example wifi won’t be usable with Linux at all…

Thanks in advance!

They are linux certified…

New Intel Xe iGPUs support AV1 decode.
For AMD iGPUs: it differs.

@vatson Did you end up getting a ThinkPad T14, and if so, how are you finding the experience?

I’m also considering getting one. I used a T14 Gen 2 last year and everything worked fine. However, that was probably the last generation to support ACPI S3 suspend; since Gen 3 I think all T14s use S0ix (a.k.a. s2idle) suspend, which I have heard others complaining about. (And I just recently had to return a brand new Dell Latitude laptop because it supported only S0ix and drained the battery overnight in sleep mode.)

Can you, or anyone else, confirm whether there are significant power drain issues in sleep mode with the Gen 3 or Gen 4 T14 or T14s?
