Hi I am currently running a dual boot with Leap and Windoze 10. I am wanting to buy 2 ssds and set them up in a fake raid 0 with a dual boot of Leap 42.1 and Windoze 10. My motherboard is an Asrock 970 extreme 4 and I wish to use the raid controler built into my motherboard. Is this possible? I did a quick google search buy I found only guides on how to do it on other distros.
I am by no means an expert, but I would say that when the hardware organises the RAID, the software does not see anything of it. It is just “disk” (linux will probably only see /dev/sda). And partitioning, installing (and running) then will be the same as on every disk.
FAKE RAID (BIOS assisted) requires software support True hardware RAID is transparent to the OS. .FAKE RAID can be a bear depending on the exact chip set.
I can’t find a Leap 42.1 raid driver for the AMD SB950 chipset, which provides raid for my computer. Does this mean I can’t dual boot of this chipset? If so, does anyone know of a cheap raid card I could use for dual booting Leap 42.1 and windows 10?
IMHO use a true RAID controller and no it ain’t cheap :’( Or use software RAID and run Windows in a VM
