Leap 16 --usb mouse just drops "dead"-- previous thread just expired

Back over in Leap 16 with the new improved gear . . . but once again, typing in a Gmail email box the cursor stopped functioning and I couldn’t type any letters . . . I had to click around in Gmail to get the cursor function back and continue typing . . . .

Based upon the new usb equipment I didn’t have the dmesg running until after the problem happened . . . . Again, Leap 16 seems to be the “common denominator.”

Over powering the USB sub system… get a powered hub (as in with a separate 5V power adaptor), plug in your devices to the hub and see how it transpires…

On second thoughts it could also just be loosing the plot if suspending, disable USB power settings may suffice.

How are you powering the keyboard, is it an RGB one?

Thanks for following along . . . I think one of the issues with using the dmesg command is that it does likely show “everything” from when the system was booted, and in there was a “suspend” or two . . . .

But in today’s case it is again a case where the keyboard might have participated, but then the mouse was not able to pull it out of the problem. But it did recover faster than with the previous two components.

I don’t know what “RGB” is . . . both of these units are wired usb connections to the usb ports on the mobo, back of the machine.

RGB - Red-Green-Blue device lighting…

I would suggest adding your user to systemd-journal then can use journalctl -b command for example.

I would plug in a device, check which USB hub and port it’s on and check the MxPwr output from usb-devices make notes and try and spread the devices around on the hubs to see if it’s a particular device in a particular port that is causing the issues.

No device lighting on either of them . . . posting the data from “usb-devices” and “lsusb -t” here in the thread to keep track of it.

It looks like one item is in “bus 1” and the other is in “bus 3” . . . . I ran that “sudo journalctl -b” command and that showed over a thousand lines of data, scrolling down through it for as much as I could stand, didn’t show any blaring errors . . . just all of the things that the computer is thinking about and or keeping track of . . . . .
