Hi Guys,
an old time (Open)SUSE user here. I noted that the OpenSUSE 16.0 beta has somewhat more matters to iron out so it seems, then the the previous start of 15.0 … Whatever the case, on the Intel systems I have, things go “ok”, with the typical beta issues.
However, when booting either the AMD 6650u or AMD6850u notebooks, the boot process fails. The current internal drives hold on both notebooks a Windows partition. However, the remainder of the drive (50% - 512GB) remains free, that’s all. Nevertheless, I’ve also wiped the internal drive on one of both, having a true 100% empty drive (blkdiscard) and still get the same error.
I tried with the early version (Alpha), more recently with the beta 141 and now with build 143 the problem still persists. Some info on hardware configurations:
- HP Elitebooks 845 9th Generation (2 notebooks, same generation and family, different processors)
- Processors: AMD 6850u and AMD 6650
- Both have a built-in LTE card next to the standard WiFi card
The system seems to hang when starting the virtuo part, and then dracut fails … Don’t know if it’s specific to this AMD setups, but that’s what I noted, perhaps this can help to fix the issue.
Tried various methods to boot the installer: “normal” external USB GPT formatted usb stick, as well as a ventoy setup.
