THIS IS COMPLETION OF ABOVE POST]
This is somewhat of a “long” explanation, but my intention is to try to get eventually to the cause of this problem:
[Problem is that LEAP 15 install “hangs” after udev “OK”, but the “three green bars” never complete] [Occurs on DVD & Net iso versions]
- I have been attempting to install Leap 15 on my ASUS N76VZ laptop since May 26th 2018
- Tumbleweed + Leap 42.1 + 42.2 + 42.3 + opensuse 13.2 have all successfully installed on this machine with the current hardware
- Current installed OP/SYS are Tumbleweed, Leap 42.3 and 4 other linux distros.
- Tumbleweed live starts and works… LEAP 15 KDE Live hangs on plymouth splash screen
- LEAP 15 KDE Live FAILSAFE WORKS.
- AT bash shell prompt: systemctl start sddm.service
- LEAP 15 KDE live failsafe installer works [installed suucessful, but issues]
7.1 Partitioner decides to use /dev/mapper “layout” for install
7.2 Xorg and graphics drivers point to VMware llvm module - Install of Leap 15 into Qemu/KVM Virtual machine no problem with partitoner or graphics drivers.
Significant:
PRIOR to install hard drive(s) partitions are standard GPT btrfs, xfs, ext4, ext2, luks-on-lvm, lvm-on-luks.
Other users on this forums have noted that the install fails with prior existing raid configurations.
The fact that both the install and the LIVE Standard “hangs” , but the KDE LIVE FAILSAFE works, would seem to indicate that it is more than just the installer script where the “bug” is.
Would be interesting to know how the gnome live iso behaves, but I have to clean up the “mess” from the install, to get underway…
btw, I have been using SUSE since 1999, version 6.5, and this is by far the worst install experience… [Just saying!!!]
cheers,
Paul
