Leap 15.6 and Beta 16 can't get the installation running, but Tumbleweed does install

Returning long-time openSUSE-user. Have used earlier versions of openSUSE on this desktop, but I can’t even successfully get the installer booting up with Leap 15.6 or 16 Beta. Only Tumbleweed works on my hardware from 2018. HW: Ryzen 5 2600, Radeon RX580x. Numerous distros work fine (Pop-OS, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, CachyOS, Debian and Tumbleweed. Exact hardware according to Plasma: HP 595-P0569NG
Question/bug report: 2018 hardware doesn’t work, sad and weird. I even assume my hardware is still new enough to run with Leap 16 based on CPU-generation, as I can use the compilations for v3 on CachyOS, so the “cut-off” of v2 for Leap16 should explain anything, and surely not for Leap 15.6.
I had to choose the tag for leap 15.6 or 16-beta, and it’s more useful for improving the upcoming version, therefore 16-beta-tag.

You haven’t given us anything meaningful to go on. What happens when you try to boot Leap installation media? Do you see any messages on attempting boot (after hitting ESC if necessary)? How did you create the installation media? What is your installation media? Which .iso type did you burn? Where and how did you get it? Have you tried appending nomodeset to the installation media boot menu’s linu line? Is legacy/MBR booting (CSM support) enabled in BIOS setup? If yes, have you tried with it disabled?

How did you create the USB installer?

Thanks. Made some crappy screenshots with my phone, but don’t remember which one was Leap 15.6 and which Leap 16 beta. Used a stick with ventoy. Both got stuck somewhere in the middle of booting up. What I did today is make a new usb stick on an old mac (monterey) with a leap15-6net-iso with balena etcher. this booted normally and I could install leap as intended. Would have to do more experimentation to reproduce the issues I ran into yesterday. So case closed so far from my side, thanks again.

This won’t be necessary. That was actually the reason for @knurph’s question. And I’ll just step in for all the others: Don’t use Ventoy!
It can break the install media. I’m not the specialist, here. You can search the forum for details. Glad you got it working, now. :grinning:
Have a lot of fun!

Thanks for your fast reply. Interesting to hear about ventoy. Weird that it worked for me with numerous distros including tumbleweed.

just if someone is curious: result of booting leap 16-beta-offline-installer-iso with ventoy (tumbleweed boots properly with ventoy)
