Leap 15.5 where did screenlock option go

Just upgraded via dup to Leap 15.5 on a workstation (AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X).

Thankfully no problems.

KDE

When I right click on the desktop I no longer have an option to invoke screen lock.

The Application Launcher has nice options for sleep etc. but nothing to invoke screen lock.

On waking from sleep the screen is locked so screen lock is working.

How do I quickly and easily lock my screen?

Thanks

First method –

  • KDE System Settings → Session Management → Lock Session –

With Leap 15.5 this now offers –

  • “Screen Saver” → [Ctrl+Alt+L]
  • Meta+L” – meaning, the “Meta” key → usually the “Windows Key” …

Second Method –

  • KDE System Settings → Workspace → Workspace Behaviour → Screen Locking –

Assuming that, you’ve done the setup in the Session Management, the shortcut key should be “Screen Saver” –

  • Attempting to use anything else here will often result in a conflict error notification being raised by KDE Plasma.

I’ll think about raising this issue in the KDE Discuss forum …

I set the key shortcut for Alt/Meta-L which works and is convenient.

It is disconcerting to lose the right click menu option.

Thanks

Yes, I see this as a (terrible, because I hate those key shortcuts) bypass and not as a solution.

Warning: I had to reverse engineer the English commands and choices as I am running Plasma in Dutch.

Hit Alt-D-E. Choose “Configure desktop and background”. Choose mouse actions, at standard menu choose to adjust it (i.e. the list icon). Tick “Lock screen” and it is added to the menu

@Marvo22:

Or, simply right-click on the Desktop and choose “Desktop and Background setup” –

  • Within the “Mouse actions” → the top of the list is usually “Right mouse button” with “Standard Menu” as the choice → at the right hand side of the window there are three buttons → from right to left: “Remove” (a red minus symbol); “Information” (a blue circle with a white “i” in it); “Setup” (in my Oxygen case, a spanner icon) –
Choose “Setup” and enable the “Lock screen” action.
